Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 June / corr. Trend R. Ergun/ The Azerbaijani volleyball club Azerreil will not take part in the European Champion's League, Zohrab Gozelbeyli, spokesman for the Volleyball Federation of Azerbaijan said to Trend on 27 June.

Azerreil will determine in a week in which European Cup it will take part, he said. "The non-participation in the Champions League does not mean that we are not going to take part in the European Cup at all. This issue will be cleared up in a week. We may take part in the Chelence tournament or in any other competition," he said.

The volleyball Champions League will began in November 2008.

According to Gozalbayli, the fact that the team is not taking part in the Champions League is not because that it has weakened. "The president of the club and chief coach has their own plans. The volleyball team is going through the rejuvenation process at present. We take part in any volleyball tournament so that our youth will gain experience," he said.

The chief coach of Azerreil Faig Garayev did not comment on the refusal of the club to take part in the Champions League. He said that such kind of information must be released to media only by the federation officials.
