Azerbaijani Journalist to Appeal European Court

Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 July / corr. Trend K. Zarbaliyeva/ The Supreme Court of Azerbaijan rejected the appeal of Radio Liberty reporter in Nakchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.

Malahat Nasibova, head of the Center for Development of Democracy Resources and NGO public union of Nakhchivan and reporter of Radio Liberty appealed the court against the illegal actions of the Attorney General's Office and Interior Ministry of Nakjchivan Autonomous Republic.

Elchin Sadigov, the lawyer of the journalist said to Trend that the officers of the Interior Ministry conducted search in reporter's house and office of the organization led by Nasibova without court permission.

Therefore, the reporter appealed the Attorney Office of Nakhchivan, but her appeal was rejected.

The appeal by Nasibova on the search without permission and withdrawal of some belongings, infringement of journalistic confidentiality and to give back the withdrawn things was rejected by the court.

The appeal made to the Supreme Court to overturn the decision the Nakhchivan city court was not allowed.

The lawyer said that they will appeal the European Court on Human Rights.
