Mario Ancic will miss the US Open for the second year in a row after the Croatian pulled out Tuesday due to the effects of glandular fever, dpa reported.
Ancic's withdrawal also scratches the number 25 from the Beijing Olympic tennis competition starting Sunday. The one-time Wimbledon semi-finalist missed much of last season with the debilitating illness.
He failed to play the final Grand Slam of the season in 2007 due to a shoulder injury after making a tentative return to the sport.
