Azerbaijani Court Decides to Resume Activity of Abu Bakr Mosque
Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 October/ Trend , corr K. Zarbaliyeva/ Narimanov District Court of Baku has decided to resume activity of Abu Bakr Mosque, lawyer Javanshir Suleymanov, representative of Narimanov Community of Religious Men, said to Trend .
The Community brought an action against Police Office of Narimanov district to resume mosque's activities.
The blast caused by the hand grenade thrown to Abu Bakr mosque by unknown man at 08:50p.m. on 17 August 2008, killed two and injured 19. The activities of the mosque were suspended after the blast. Elnur Bakhshiyev, of Sumgayit city, charged of committing an act of terrorism in the mosque, has been arrested.
Lawyer said they have appealed State Committee for Work with Religious Associations, National Security Ministry and Prosecutor General's Office to re-open the mosque. The above-mentioned organizations said they were not responsible for the closure of the mosque. In a court sitting in the Sabayel District Court of Baku, the defendant - State Committee said they are not responsible for the closure of the mosque.
