Captain of the Azerbaijani national football squad Rashad Sadigov signed a 6-month contract with Turkey's Kocaelispor team.
"I signed a 6-month contract with Kocaelispor because I wanted the term to be short," Sadigov told Trend in a telephone conversation on Jan. 23.
Trend was first media outlet to report on Sadigov's transfer to Kocaelispor.
Sadigov said his former Baku-based team Neftchi did not create obstacles for his transfer.
"We reached an agreement with Neftchi," he said. "I will pay the transfer fee Neftchi wants myself."
Sadigov did not reveal the sum.
Kocaelispor also signed a 6-month contract with Azerbaijani footballer Ramal Huseynov.
Kocaelispor will play Hajetepe in the Turkish Super League on Feb. 25.
Azerbaijani footballers are also expected to play during the match.
