The 16th Baku Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship commenced at the Olympic Sports Complex on Feb. 6.
Athletes are competing from the Neftchi Sports and Health Center, Baku Gymnastics School, Republican Complex Sports School, Interior Ministry Sports Society and Trade Union.
Forty-seven gymnasts are taking part in the competition.
Gymnasts are divided into three age groups by date of birth: 1995-97, 1998-99 and 2000-01.
The championship will end on Feb. 7. The contest aims to train gymnasts for the Azerbaijani Rhythmic Gymnastic Championship in April.
Azerbaijani gymnasts successfully competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Aliya Qarayeva proceeded to the final round.
