The Azerbaijani Justice Ministry Penitentiary Service said that some prisoners from Nakhchivan refused to move to the newly built jails in Nakhchivan.
"Prisoners are moved due to technical problems. Under the made decision, prisoners who were registered in Nakhchivan will be moved to Nakhchivan," Deputy Chief of the Penitentiary Service Huseyn Alikhanov told journalists on May 6.
There are roughly 300 prisoners from Nakhchivan in the jails of Azerbaijan.
The Nakhchivan jail was put into exploitation in last summer and is the mixed jail which met the European standards.
Alikhanov said refusal reasons of the prisoners who rejected to move the jails in Nakhchivan are being investigated. "Prisoners who have strong reasons will not be moved. Prisoners whose reasons will contradict the legislation will be moved to Nakhchivan," Alikhanov said.
