Inclination to Islam cannot hinder the country to integrate with Europe, European Commission Representative Clair de Lessar said at the "Spring debates" organized by the Irali (Forward) Public Union on May 6. The debates are timed to the Day of Europe - May 5.
Muslims comprises majority of population in Europe, De Lessar said.
"It is too important for the European Union (EU) to preserve traditions and values. Integration with Europe is a political process," she said.
The official of the European commission said fulfillment of definite obligations is a key condition to integrate with Europe.
"Obligations concern economic development, level of inflation and other technical issues," De Lessar said.
Europe considers Azerbaijanis as Europeans, she said.
