Azerbaijani embassy in Turkey held an event on Republic Day of Azerbaijan, which is marked on May 28.
"Activists of Azerbaijani diaspora, representatives of Azerbaijan State Committee for Diaspora, Azerbaijani senior officials and members of parliament were invited to the event," the state committee said.
The Republic Day was also marked in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. "Azerbaijanis living in the UAE and representatives of other diaspora organizations participated in the event. Head of Azerbaijani diaspora in the UAE Samir Imanov said spoke history, achievements and reasons for collapse of the Azerbaijan People's Republic which was first judicial, democratic and secular state in the East and Azerbaijan's regaining independence in 1991," the committee said.
