Prosecutor calls for sentence for drugs smugglers

Public prosecutor called for imprisoning of members of organized group accused in smuggling of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan. 

During the process state prosecutor Nariman Alekperov called for imprisoning of Khosrov Nusretov and Elmaddin Gamdamov to 12 years of imprisonment but Heydar Madatov to 8 years of imprisonment.

The court will announce the sentence on June 19.

Residents of Astara region - Khosrov Nusretov, Elmaddin Gamdamov and Heydar Madatov, as well as citizen of Iran and other members smuggled big batch of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan on February 9, 2009. They planned to sell drugs. Identity of Iran's citizen is being established. 

Iran's citizen delivered drugs to Gamdadov. Gamdadov brought drugs to Kizhaba village of Astara region and sold to Khosrov Nusratov. Nusratov together with resident of Kizhaba village Heydar Madatov transported drugs to Masalli region in the car VAZ 2107. They were detained in Lankaran. Roughly 50 kilogram 171.9 gram of hashish was revealed in the car.

They are accused of the following articles of the Criminal Code - 206.4 (smuggling), 234.4.1 (illegal purchase, keeping and sale of drugs by group of people in agreement or organized group) and 234.4.3 (illegal purchase, keeping and sale of drugs in big amounts).
