Present state of Azerbaijani press can be appreciated as positive, head of public-political department of the presidential administration, Ali Hasanov, said at the meeting dedicated to 134-th-anniversary of Azerbaijani press.
If take into account that Azerbaijani public is not short of information and regularly provided with objective and operative information, present state of press can be appreciated as positive," Hasanov said.
One of major problems of press is financing, Hasanov said concerning problems of Azerbaijani press.
"While observing present material-technical base of press and social state of Azerbaijani journalist, one can see that situation is not satisfactory," head of department said.
Hasanov said that press must develop as commercial organization and bring profit to meet material needs of journalists.
Hasanov said that professionalism of journalists and press does not meet authority and most part of public.
"Perhaps, there are a few specialists in Azerbaijani press. It affects realization of press functions," head of department of the presidential administration.
First press employees, owners of newspapers and magazines, as well as their editors-in-chief must demonstrate will to remove existing problems, Hasanov said.
"Nonprofessional publications must not appear in press," Hasanov said.
