Representatives of Azerbaijan Ombudsman meet with imprisoned chief editor

Representatives of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan got familiarized with conditions for chief editor of "Tolishi sedo" (Voice of Talish) newspaper Novruzali Mammadov who is in the hospital of Penal Service of the Ministry of Justice.
"Mammadov said that he feels bad, and he was hospitalized on July 28," the press-service of Office of Ombudsman told Trend on July 30.
Mammadov complained the representatives of the Ombudsman about the conditions the hospital and lack of adequate medical care.
"With the participation Mammadov, a meeting was held with the leadership of the institution in order to address concerns raised by the prisoners," the same source said.
The former sector head of the Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, chief editor of "Tolishi sedo" newspaper Novruzali Mammadov and executive secretary of the newspaper Elman Guliyev were arrested in February 2007.
Accused of the articles 274 (treason) and 283 (incitement of national, racial or religious hatred), Mammadov was sentenced to 10 years, Guliev - six years of imprisonment.
