Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug.4 / Trend J.Babayeva /

A number of food products branded "Halal" ["Allowed for believers"] are sold without permission of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), the office said.

Halal is issued only upon the recommendation of the Caucasus Muslims Office. However sometimes fake food products are sold under the brand of Halal. For this reason, people cannot distinguish between genuine products branded Halal and forgery, deputy chairman of the CMO, Mufti Haji Salman said at the 12th meeting of the organization.

Haji Salman appealed to the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations to assist in the struggle against fake food sold under the brand of Halal.

Baku is hosting the 12th meeting of the Caucasus Muslims Office. About 250 people are in attendance.

He said with regret that the presenters of some religious programs on television channels do not have even elementary knowledge of religion. It would be better to coordinate such programs with the Caucasus Muslims Office, Haji Salman added.
