European Cultural Center interested in expanding relations with Azerbaijan’s Sumgayit city

The European Cultural Center is interested in expanding relations with Azerbaijan’s Sumgayit city. This statement was made at the meeting between Vagif Aliyev, head of Sumgayit Executive Power and Franz Dobusch, Mayor of the Austrian City of Linz, which was announced European Cultural Center in 2009.

The European Cultural Center is interested in expanding relations with Azerbaijan's Sumgayit city. This statement was made at the meeting between Vagif Aliyev, head of Sumgayit Executive Power and Franz Dobusch, Mayor of the Austrian City of Linz, which was announced European Cultural Center in 2009. 

The Azerbaijani delegation headed by Aliyev visits Austria upon the invitation of the Mayor of the City of Linz.

At the meeting, Aliyev said that the business environment in Azerbaijan, as well as in Sumgayit is very favorable for foreign businessmen and invited members of the Economic Chamber to invest in Azerbaijan.

Dobusch received the Azerbaijani delegation and the sides discussed prospects of mutual cooperation between the two cities.

Sumgayit is an industrial city like Linz, Aliyev said. Aliyev mentioned that petrochemical and metallurgical industries are the leading industries in both cities and in addition, there is great potential for cooperation in the municipal economic and educational spheres. The sides agreed to exchange experiences, particularly, in the sphere of culture and organization of mutual visits of artists.

According Dobusch, he wants to visit Sumgait, together with a delegation.

During the day, the Azerbaijani delegation got familiarized with the activities of several enterprises - Linz AG, which specializes in utilities, AVE, which is a provider of complex waste management, SSL Linz GmbH, which produces concrete frames for the construction of sleepers and railways. In addition, the delegation took part in the awarding ceremony of the winners of Ars Electronica - International Competition for CyberArts.

The official visit organized with the support of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Austria will end on Sept.6.
