Grant activities held by the State Media Support Fund can be considered successful, said the head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Department.
"If one carefully looks for shortages, they can be found in the activities of any structure. But, I think, the State Media Support Fund's grant activities can be considered successful," the Head of the Presidential Administration Socio-Political Department, Ali Hasanov told journalists on Sept. 10.
The State Media Support Fund under the Azerbaijani President announced a competition on 12 directions on June 25. The maximum amount for each project was 20,000 manat. Applications were accepted on July 1-31.
The winners include 30 newspapers, 13 news agencies, 6 media organizations and 6 other relevant organizations.
Hasanov said the Fund has been established this year and only has recently started to work. "There are some difficulties, particularly in the classification of the media, determining what the media actually performs an information activity in Azerbaijan, ensuring the transparency of society. Therefore, the Fund's first steps can be considered successful," he said.
