Ten judges were penalized for violating the law in Azerbaijan, Justice Minister Fikret Mammedov wrote in an article published in official press today.

They were brought to disciplinary responsibility upon the Judicial Legal Council's decision and two were dismissed, he added.

Roughly 60 judges were held disciplinary responsible. Various administrative measures were taken. The council recommended against prolonging the positions of 30 judges.

In Azerbaijan there are four judges for every 100,000 people. The figure is 20-25 in several European countries. The number of judges will increase to 600 in Azerbaijan.
