Special attention should be paid to the development of media in regions, the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration department head said.
"At present, special attention should be paid to the development of regional media outlets given the media's state in the regions. There are certain problems in this sphere for objective reasons. They should be solved," the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration social and political department head Ali Hasanov said at a conference "The state of the regional media in terms of the global convergence : realities and current trends" today.
This was reported in the Press Council, which initiated the holding of the event, held in Yevlakh.
State officials, heads of leading media outlets, publishers operating in 15 regions of the country, representatives of local bodies of executive power, the police and judiciary bodies, as well as the public and well-known media experts attended the conference held with financial support of the State Support of Media Development under the Azerbaijani President.
Hasanov said Azerbaijan pays special attention to the development of media. Wishing success to the conference, Hasanov said the theme of the event is very important from the standpoint of supporting the formation of an adequate attitude of regional media outlets to the growing demands of the society.
The conference aims to strengthen the relationship between media organizations, media outlets, operating in the eastern regions of the country, with different spheres of public, social and cultural life, to discuss issues, to improve the professional skills of journalists working in the region, the Press Council chairman Aflatun Amashov said.
Special provisions for the development of media in the region were reflected in the "Concept of state support for media development", the Fund of State Support for the Development of Mass Media under the Azerbaijani President executive director Vugar Safarli said.
