Azerbaijan conducts the policy of supporting the national press and will continue it, the Presidential Administration socio-political department head Ali Hasanov said at a awarding ceremony of the winners of a journalistic competition announced by the State Support for Media Development Fund under the Azerbaijani President.
"This year, necessary funds will be allocated to improve material and technical base of the press," Hasanov said.
According to the Presidential Administration representative, the competition helps the development of freedom of expression and individual creativity of journalists.
According to the fund head Vugar Safarli, about 49 artciles were submitted to the competition announced Jan. 19 on seven trends. About 15 became winners.
In April, the Fund will announce a new competition in connection with the 135-th anniversary of the National Press, Safarov said.
March 15 the State Support for Media Development Fund under the Azerbaijani President announced the results of individual journalistic competition announced Jan. 19 on the occasion of Nowruz holiday.
The articles scored the maximum point in all trends were among winners.
