Today an agreement on the opening of the Austrian Library in Baku has been signed.

Under the agreement, signed between the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) and the Austrian Embassy the Austrian library in Baku will be opened June 23.

"Austria is very seriously involved in promoting its culture. At present, the Austrian libraries operate in 56 countries", Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Austria to Azerbaijan Silvia Mayer Kaibic said.

According to her, opening the library will serve for the development of relations between the two countries.

"Firm foundation for the development of socio-political relations between our countries is laid by signing of the agreement," rector of the University, MP Samad Seyidov said.

According to the agreement, about 3,000 books and various materials will be in the fund of the library.  Also, library staff will take a four-week practice in Vienna once a year.
