Azerbaijani ombudsman to attend Council of Europe event

Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova will visit Strasbourg July 8-9 to take part in an international event on "Rational and Independent Institutions for the Promotion of Legal Equality" organized by the Office of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.
Suleymanova will meet with several Council of Europe officials and discuss prospects for future human rights cooperation, the Azerbaijani Ombudsman's Office reported.
Speaking at the event, Suleymanova will report on human rights in Azerbaijan, proposals to improve relevant legislation, and prospects for the future.
Suleymanova is a member of the European Network of National Preventive Mechanisms, which is organized by the Council of Europe's Directorate General of Human Rights and Legal Affairs, and Association on the Prevention of Torture.
The event will also address the role of human rights institutions in implementing legal equality, strategic resource allocation to ensure the rationalization of institutions, cooperation with other entities in human rights, and means to exchange views and share information on other topics.
