Georgian law enforcement agencies detained a famous football player, former national team player of Georgia Giorgi Demetradze. He was detained with two other accomplices David Gagnidze and Kakha Misireli in the raid, Georgian Interior Ministry said.
Demetradze played for Kiev's Dinamo, Spanish "Real-Sociedade", a number of Ukrainian, Russian and Azerbaijani clubs. He was accused of involvement in the "thieves' traditions.
About $40,700 taken from the citizen, who lost $140,000 to David Peykrishvili, were seized.
Former "thief in law" Vakhtang Kipiani acts in the case. He called his colleagues in Tbilisi from Ukraine and ordered them to withdraw the money for thieves.
Georgia has the article of the Criminal Code for involvement in criminal activity. Detainees were also charged with illegal possession of weapons.
