UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova arrived in Azerbaijan on July 28, the official website of the organization reported.
Bulgarian ambassador to France and permanent representative of Bulgaria to UNESCO Irina Bokova was elected the new Director General of UNESCO on September 22, 2009 in the fifth ballot of the Executive Board of the organization.
Bokova became the first woman heading the organization.
