Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 29 / Trend M.Aliyev /
The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry is waiting for proposals on the inclusion of fauna and flora species in the new edition of the "Red Book," Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov told Trend today.
The ministry will review proposals from scientists, researchers and NGOs active in this field until mid-December, he said.
"Despite the fact that certain types of animals included in the first edition of the book are not endangered, we have proposed that they be included in the second edition as well," Bagirov said.
According to the minister, the second edition is expected to be published in February.
The first edition contained 14 mammals, 36 birds, five fish, 13 amphibians and reptiles, 40 insects and 140 plants.
The ministry plans to publish the second edition in Azerbaijani and English.
The ministry will also create a museum based on the second edition.
