Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 2 / Trend T. Hajiyev /
Top journalists will receive free apartments in Azerbaijan, Executive Director of the Azerbaijani Presidential Media Development Support Fund Vugar Safarli told Trend today.
"Mainly leading journalists will be provided with apartments in a building to be built for media representatives," he said. "The selection will be based on criteria that will prevent documents from being filed by unprofessional journalists."
President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree July 22 to strengthen the social protection of the employees of the press. The decree stated that 5 million manat would be allocated from the Presidential Reserve Fund to improve the living conditions of the press.
Safarli said the project to construct a residential building is underway.
"Only technical issues remain unsolved," he said. "After they are resolved, journalists will be able to submit their applicants."
