The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources initiated activities to prevent forest fires.
Afgan Hasanov, Acting Director of the center for emergency situations under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, told Trend, that fallen leaves, collected in the forest farms, are burned by the population. It can provoke a flame spread by the wind through the forest.
"The employees of the ministry started operatons to prevent fire," Hasanov said.
"The activities organized jointly with the representatives of municipalities and local executive bodies are held at schools," a representative of the ministry said.
Fire in 2010 were recorded in Ismayilli, Shabran and other regions of Azerbaijan. The main cause of fire was careless use of fire.
