Azerbaijani citizens accused of participating in fighting against NATO forces in Pakistan and Afghanistan have been sentenced to a total of nine years imprisonment.

Azerbaijani citizens accused of participating in fighting against NATO forces in Pakistan and Afghanistan have been sentenced to a total of nine years imprisonment.

According to the court decision, Rashad Ismayilov was sentenced to 5 years, Ramin Musayev to 3 years and Ilgar Mammadov to a year of imprisonment.

These persons are accused of creating armed forces or groups not envisaged by the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic, as well as participating in their creation and activities, supplying them with arms, ammunition, explosives, military equipment (article 279-1).

The accused persons participated in the fights against NATO forces being along with armed units in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Rashad Mammadov had been wounded in one of the fights. All the 3 persons were detained by the Pakistani law enforcement bodies and extradited to Azerbaijan.
