European Azerbaijan Society to hold lecture series in London
Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.20 / Trend E. Tariverdiyeva /
The European Azerbaijan Society will hold a lecture series in London dedicated to Azerbaijan's future in the EU, the society said today.
The subject of discussions and lectures by Dr. Alan Riley will be Azerbaijan's mutual future relations with the EU.
Riley argues that, despite the current problems in the Eurozone, the EU will still be the largest and richest market near Azerbaijan, and may well have expanded its single market to incorporate Russia by this time. Some accommodation within the single market, if not the EU, will be necessary to maximize Azerbaijan's economic opportunities, he believes.
According to expert, Azerbaijani policymakers have to consider broader global economic, cultural and political dynamics in their decision-making.
The volatile situation in the Caucasus is a major issue and a possible barrier inhibiting proximity to Brussels, Riley believes.
