Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.24 / Trend M.Aliyev /
The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry held regular monitoring of pollution in the transboundary Kur and Araz Rivers during the second decade of January, the ministry reported today.
During the second decade of January, water consumption in the Kur River increased by 2 cubic meters per second and amounted to 124 cubic meters per second compared to the first decade.
The monitoring found that biogenic substances exceeded the norm at points where the river is subjected to transboundary contamination in Georgia and Armenia.
Water consumption in the Araz River was 73 cubic meters per second decreasing by 8 cubic meters per second.
The water's oxygen regime at all points remained at the corridor of 5.75-6.82 milligrams per liter, which meets sanitary norms.
