The fight against corruption is carried out systematically in Azerbaijan and this not a mere campaign, Chief of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration's Work with Law Enforcement Agencies Department Fuad Alasgarov told journalist on Monday.

Alasgarov said concrete measures have already been taken in this direction and the presidential administration has received numerous letters of gratitude.

"No country in the world can pretend that there is no corruption in it. Developed countries are using new methods in the fight against corruption; we, too, as a developed country, have begun to use these new methods. President Ilham Aliev's well-known speech, made at the Cabinet in January, has launched a new phase in the fight against corruption," Alasgarov said.

Alasgarov said most corruption complaints relate to officials, while drivers complain about the State Traffic Police Department, and businessmen complain about the tax authorities.

"We regularly carry out this work. This is a political will of Mr. President," Alasgarov said.

The prophylactic and preventive measures are the major steps in the fight against corruption, he added.

"The system's transparent procedures established in state bodies should be properly used. The President has already issued two major decrees in this regard. One of them is associated with the creation of a single window in the customs authorities; the other with the traffic police," Alasgarov said.
