Azerbaijan, Baku, March 31 / Trend T.Hajiyev /

Director of the History Institute under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Yagub Mahmudov said new documents were found on the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in 1918-1920.

"The History Institute and Prosecutor General's Office established a joint investigation team in May 2010 and we already have some results. Our goal is to prepare all the materials on a scientific basis from the first day of the genocide on Azerbaijani territories up until the
Khojaly genocide, investigate and distribute it as a legal document around the world and disclose Armenian fascism, " Mahmudov said.

This work should have been done long ago, he added.

"I have suggested to prepare a legal document with the witnesses of the Khojaly genocide are alive and distribute it worldwide. We have agreed to this with the Prosecutor General's Office. We are developing these documents based on scientific fact," Mahmudov said.

He said the institute's researchers have been sent to different countries to conduct research in the archives and new facts have been revealed as a result.

"These materials are not related only to the genocide committed by the Shaumian government, but also to the genocide committed against Azerbaijanis in the Irevan city," Mahmudov said.
