Caucasus University is hosting a scientific and cultural event within the celebrations of Makhtumkuli Fragi Revival, Unity and Poetry Day with the Turkmen Embassy's assistance in Azerbaijan.

"Turkmenistan celebrates the Day of Revival, Unity and Poetry, which is a major holiday symbolizing the unbreakable link between generations of the Turkmen people," Turkmen Ambassador in Azerbaijan Toyly Komekov said at the conference.

He said Turkmenistan is an independent and neutral country with a rapidly growing economy in the Eurasian continent. The policy of internal reforms is aimed at ensuring the people's welfare, he said.

"The state is for people!" is the main slogan and the fundamental doctrine of the reforms in Turkmenistan, the diplomat said.

The diplomat emphasized that a new page has recently opened in Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations thanks to the efforts of both countries' leaders.

"Today we celebrate a double celebration - a holiday of friendship of peoples living on both shores of the Caspian Sea, the festival of friendship of peoples linked by one common language, culture and historical heritage. Friendship, expressed by the great poet Makhtumkuli Fraghi, which was the basis of his multifaceted creativity," he said.

"The presidential meetings during the mutual official visits are important steps toward strengthening and developing bilateral relations," he added.

The world-famous poet Makhtumkuli Fragi made an invaluable contribution to the development of human culture through literature, science and philosophy.

The pen-name Fragi means "separated". Fraghi spoke Arabic and Persian fluently. Makhtumkuli significantly changed the Turkmen poetic language, bringing it closer to the people's one.

The ambassadors of several countries, the leadership of the Caucasus University, teachers and students of the university attended the event. The Turkmen embassy in Azerbaijan has also organized an exhibition in the foyer of the university. The samples of culture and history were demonstrated there.

Makhtumkuli's works were read in Azerbaijani, Turkmen, Turkish and Russian languages by students from different universities of Azerbaijan.
