Some 70 prisoners have been released over the last month in Azerbaijan, Deputy Justice Minister and Chief of the Penitentiary Service Madat Guliyev told journalists on Friday. he said the process was fully transparent.
Guliyev said prisoners should know legal basis of parole.
He stressed that court receives an appeal regarding prisoners, who obey internal discipline, behave perfectly in prison, on their parole.
Intensive operational activities are carried out in penitentiary system to combat corruption, serious investigations are conducted towards employees inclined to corruption, and on corruption cases, Guliyev said.
Guliyev has not reported about corruption cases, since the operational activities are not completed yet.
