Azerbaijan, Baku, July 2 / Trend I. Isabalayeva /

The Centre for Eurasian Security and Strategic Studies has developed and launched a new website www.qerbiazerbaycan.com with the financial assistance of the Council of State Support to NGOs under the Azerbaijani President.

The purpose of the website is to bring the true story about Western Azerbaijan, the representative of the Center for Eurasian Security and Strategic Studies Elmira Mammadova said at a presentation on Saturday.

"The Armenian lobby conducts the active propaganda," she said. "It is important to have such websites in a virtual combat with the enemy. There are few similar websites about Western Azerbaijan. We must convey historical realities to the world."

We wanted to create such a resource for a long time, but realized it only in May, the director of the center Khatam Jabbarli said.

He said that the present territory of the Republic of Armenia geographically occupies the western part of the historical lands of Azerbaijan.

This project provides information on the historical past, geography, administrative-territorial units of the Soviet period and toponyms of such eternal Azerbaijani territories as Iravan khanate and other Azerbaijani territories incorporated into Armenia, as well as deportation of Wetsern Azerbaijanis from their historical-ethnic territories accompanied by genocide, their abundant culture, literature, music, cuisine, heroes and well-known persons. Furthermore, Nagorno-Karabakh problem which emerged as a groundless territorial claim by Armenia towards Azerbaijan, genocide of 31 March 1918 and Khojali genocide of 26 February of 1992, issues arising from Geneva Convention of 1949 are particularly highlighted in the web-site, as well as the books, articles, news, photos and maps on the topic are presented to the attention of readers.
It is also planned to use the materials sent by users of the website.

Founded in four languages - Azerbaijani, Russian, English, Armenian, web-site is aimed to present truths on the history of Iravan khanate to the users, notably to facilitate the representatives of the young generation in memorizing our history, to promote our just position among the broad reader masses apart from our Motherland. The materials in foreign languages will be especially important to strengthen the position of Azerbaijan in the information war with Armenia and against false and fraudulent claims. We need the support of our fellow citizens, receiving education and living in Russia, Europe and U.S.
