A three-day celebration on Astana Day has begun in the Kazakh capital on Monday.
As part of the events scheduled for Capital Day, a television program will be held with President Nursultan Nazarbayev and the regional leaders. During the program, the regions' leaders will discuss the implementation of the country's industrialization plan.
Concerts and mass celebrations are held along the capital squares. A premiere of the performance "Teren tamyrlar," dedicated to President Nazarbayev's life and the establishment of the republic's independence, will be held at the K. Baiseitova National Opera and Ballet Theatre on Monday evening.
"The purpose of the performance is to give a key role to Nursultan Nazarbayev in gaining, establishing and maintaining the independence of our country," said in a program of celebrations on the occasion of the Capital Day.
The performance is set in the forest. "Every tree symbolizes the image of people at different times, the history of emergence, formation, development of the nation, and modern reality."
Organizers consider it remarkable, that "for the first time in Kazakh theatre, the image of the president is incarnated metaphorically."
Capital Day has been celebrated in Kazakhstan since 2008. The holiday has historical and cultural importance and is a symbol of the country's achievements. The capital's festivities are timed with the president's birthday.
