Several tourist facilities in Azerbaijan cannot be licensed due to problems with documents, the Head of the Culture and Tourism Ministry's Tourism Department Aydin Ismiyev told Trend.
"If the tourist facility lacks a specific document, it means that it is incomplete. Therefore, these objects cannot get a license and we generally refuse to issue licenses from some as they do not meet modern requirements. We live in the 21st century. If someone builds two small rooms and names these as part of a hotel, we do regard it as a hotel. The Ministry does not issue licenses for such cases," Ismiyev said.
He said about 210 travel agencies are currently operating in Azerbaijan.
No major changes were observed in the number of travel companies in the country in recent years, Ismiyev said.
