Opposition party's former chairman elected chairman of new organization

Azerbaijan established the organizing committee of Euro-Atlantic Council. It includes various public organizations. The chairman of the Azerbaijan-Atlantic Cooperation Association, a former chairman of the Mejlis of the "Musavat" party Sulheddin Akbar was elected head of the organizing committee.
The chairman of the "Defence and Security Association" Yashar Jafarli became deputy chairman of the organizing committee. The representative of Doktrina JHAM Jasur Sumerenli was elected representative of the Organizing Committee for Public Relations.
It was stressed that the main purpose of the Euro-Atlantic Council is to coordinate the activities of organizations working for the democratization of Azerbaijan and its integration into Euro-Atlantic space.
Akbar said that the representative offices of the Council are planned to be established in the regions. About 27 organizations will be united in the council, Akbar said.
