An Iranian woman convicted of adultery and sentenced to death by stoning has been allowed to briefly leave the prison for her mother's funeral, reported Associated Press with reference to IRNA .

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani attended her mother's funeral in recent days. IRNA gave no other details.

Malek Ajdar Sharifipour, the top justice official in Eastern Azerbaijan, was also quoted as saying there has been no change in Ashtiani's case.

Ashtiani was convicted of adultery in 2006 after her husband's murder and sentenced to death by stoning.

An international outcry later forced Iranian authorities to suspend her sentence and put the case under review.

She was later also convicted of being an accessory to her husband's murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
