Iranian citizen begins hunger strike at UNHCR

Omid Ilzadi, who fled Iran, began a hunger strike today in front of the Georgian office of UNHCR.
Omid, who was persecuted in Iran for political and religious motives, asked for refugee status in Georgia. Omid arrived in Georgia based on visa-free regime with Iran.
The Iranian citizen has been living outdoors in front of UNHCR in Georgia since May 31. He also holds a symbolic action demanding a better future to asylum seekers and homeless people in Tbilisi.
Omid arrived in Georgia on March 8, and then resided at the Center for Asylum Seekers in Martkopi. However, he left the center on May 31.
