Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov has proposed a new financing mechanism for students studying abroad within the State Program for Education of Azerbaijani Youth Abroad in 2007-2015.

Each student must have his own account, Mardanov said at a conference on "SOFAZ's place and role in the national oil strategy" in Baku on Wednesday.

He said if the funds are transferred to this account, education expenditures will be rapidly financed.

He said 835 Azerbaijanis study abroad within the state program. About 47 percent are receiving a bachelor's degree, 33 percent a master's degree, 16 percent are in residency, and four percent are in postgraduate courses.

About 199 study in Turkey, 151 in Germany, 148 in the UK, 84 in Canada, 59 in Russia, 35 in France, 24 in Korea, and 25 in the Netherlands.
