The Flag Festival devoted to the State Flag Day that is marked annually on November 9 is being conducted at the Sports Palace of Baku. The Festival is arranged by the Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry.
The Ministry for the first time arranges a festival devoted to the State Flag Day, Ali Mamedov, Director of the Youth and Sports Ministry's Division told Trend on Friday.
He said it is planned to conduct such undertakings in nationwide scale in future.
"The Festival's key aim is to foster youth's love for state attributes," Mamedov said.
In a country where independence was gained comparatively recently, it is essential to foster youth's love for state attributes, and agitation and enlightenment work should be strengthened in this sphere, MP Ganira Pashayeva told reporters.
Having stated that modern Azerbaijan and its tricolor flag are the successors of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic, the MP voiced her confidence that the present-day youth will make every effort to make the Azerbaijani Flag fly over Karabakh.
A contest of drawings devoted to the State Flag was carried out at the sidelines of the Festival.
Attending the Festival were representatives of states agencies, non-governmental organizations, students, and activists of youth organizations.
The Flag Festival was carried out in line with November 17, 2009 Decree entitled "On Foundation of State Flag Day" of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
