Azerbaijan's actions in the tourism sphere will be carried out in two main directions, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev told reporters on Wednesday.
According to Garayev, the question is about bringing tourist services and activity of the country's cultural centers in accordance with international standards.
An opening of grandiose Museum of Azerbaijani carpet and commissioning shares of summer and winter recreation center Shahdag will be the main events of 2012, Garayev said. The international conferences and events will be held in the country in this connection.
According to Garayev, purposeful preparations for Eurovision Song Contest 2012 are underway.
"The budget allocated for tourism has been determined, and we carried out the work in line with this budget," Garayev noted. "I stress the International festival of Rostropovich and jazz festival was held at means allocated from the public budget in 2011."
2011 was announced a Year of tourism in Azerbaijan.
