BP Azərbaycan Company signed a partnership agreement with the National Olympic Committee and the National Paralympic Committee of Azerbaijan.

BP Azərbaycan Company will be the official partner of the National Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee for the Olympic Games 2012 in London in accordance with the agreement.

The purpose of the agreement is to support Azerbaijani national team and athletes who preparing for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012 in London.

Regional director of BP in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, Rashid Javanshir said, the Olympic and Paralympic Games is the activities that will excite the whole country.

"We want to share with you the excitement associated with the participation of Azerbaijani sportsmen in the Olympic Games, as well as pride for them when they will return home with Olympic medals," Javanshir said.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ismail Ismailov said, Azerbaijani sportsmen have already received 30 licenses for the Olympic Games, and 22 for the Paralympic Games.

"It is an indication of government attention to the sport. The Olympic facilities are built in 33 regions of the country." Ismailov added.

Ismailov noted, declaring of 2012 as a Year of Sport shows the attention of President Ilham Aliyev to this area.

The agreement signed with BP will give Azerbaijani athletes the opportunity to better prepare for the Olympics.

Vice-president of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Chingiz Huseynzade noted that BP and the NOC co-operate at high levels.

"The cooperation between BP and the NOC will continue after the Summer Olympic Games in London. Because I am sure that athletes selected by BP, will return with gold medals," Huseynzade said.

President of the National Paralympic Committee of Azerbaijan Ilgar Rahimov expressed his confidence that the athletes will return to Azerbaijan, with the medals, first of all - with gold medals.

Rahimov noted, declaring of 2012 as a Year of Sport by President Ilham Aliyev in 2012 will increase attention of both athletes and society to the sport.
