A regular meeting of the Commission on the complaints of the Press Council (SC) of Azerbaijan was held on Friday, press service of the Council told Trend.

Members of the commission headed by Deputy Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Trade Union of Journalists Mushvig Alesgerli considered appeal of the journalist, the employee of the Azerbaijani service of Radio Liberty, Khadija Ismayilova, in connection with the Yeni Azerbaijan, Iki Sahil and Ses newspapers.

During the discussion materials of these printed matters on Khadija Ismayilova were considered separately, attitude to requirements of "Rules of professional conduct of Azerbaijani journalists" was defined. Initially, the parties were heard.

Along with the applicant, chief editor of "Yeni Azerbaijan" Hikmet Babaoglu and Deputy Chief Editor of "Iki Sahil" Ismayil Hajiyev presented their positions and proposals in relation to the issues discussed. Members of the Commission, after analyzing voiced thoughts and arguments, agreed.

Despite the fact that the representative of the Ses newspaper was not present at the discussions for some unknown reason, the article of this edition, which was also the complaint was discussed.

The Commission took the view that these materials violated the requirements of a number of principles of "Rules of Professional Conduct of Azerbaijani journalists", used abusive language, and violated privacy. The Commission recommended that all three newspapers be more careful in future in such moments. The applicant was also given recommendations.
