The piracy rate in Azerbaijan has decreased from 96 to 88 percent for the past eight years, Copyright Agency Chairman Kamran Imanov said at a joint session of parliamentary committees on legal policy and state building and science and education on Thursday.
He said this figure decreased almost by half - from 61 to 39 percent in the sphere of book piracy, piracy of CD and DVD have declined from 90 percent to 68 percent. These figures are 20 - 50 percent in developed countries, Imanov said.
"The system of attribution of Azerbaijan is recognized in the world, but there is work that must be finished" Imanov added.
The committee is discussing the bill "On ensuring intellectual property rights and combating piracy."
