Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry believes that the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay made one-sided assessment of the events in Zhanaozen, despite extensive information provided during meetings with Kazakh officials, Kazakh Foreign Ministry's representative Altay Abibullayev said in his statement on Friday.

Law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan were strictly guided by the country's legislation while investigating the events in Zhanaozen and opening judicial proceedings. International experts, primarily from the UN were invited to ensure objective investigation.

"Our citizens' right to live, ensuring safety of society, basic social, economic and human rights of every Kazakh citizen remain as fundamental values for us," the statement says.
