Employers punished in Azerbaijan for violation of employment rules

Individuals and entities who violated employment rules for foreigners were punished in Azerbaijan. This was stated in a report of the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking, Deputy Interior Minister Vilayat Eyvazov on the fight against human trafficking in Azerbaijan in 2012.

Two criminal facts of coercion to work were registered during this period. Joint monitoring in various construction companies, factories and quarries was conducted for detection of such cases. As a result, 5.022 inspections were conducted in conjunction with the State Labor Inspection Service, the payment of 305.880 manat of delayed salary, 27.722 manat of compensations for damages and 22.155 manat of social benefits was provided. Signing of labor contracts with 10.845 employees working in different fields of construction was provided.

During the inspection of 484 entities by the State Migration Service appropriate action was taken against 235 individuals and entities who violated the employment rules for foreigners and stateless persons.

In addition, the police raids revealed some 455 children living on the streets, begging and illegally involved in the work. The inspections have shown that these children are victims of human trafficking.

Appropriate measures were taken in regard to about 200 parents who do not fulfill their responsibilities on upbringing and who are forcing children to illegal actions.

Legal, psychological and other assistance was given to 100 street children by the respective centers.
