Azerbaijani sailors, arrested in Georgia, released

Azerbaijani sailors - members of the crew of a Turkish ship "Aydar" arrested by Georgian border guards, were released on Saturday after the interference of General Consul of Azerbaijan in Batumi, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev told Trend.

Azerbaijani sailors - members of the crew of a Turkish ship "Aydar" arrested by Georgian border guards, were released on Saturday after the interference of General Consul of Azerbaijan in Batumi, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev told Trend.

According to Abdullayev, sailors continue doing their work.

Georgian border guards detained Turkish ship "Aydar" which went from unrecognized republic of Abkhazia to the Turkish port of Trabzon. Among the crew of "Aydar" vessel, detained by Georgian border guards Wednesday, were 2 Russians, 3 Ukrainians and four citizens of Azerbaijan, told Trend representative of the Georgian Border Police (GBP).

Their names are:

1. Mahir Safarov, Chief Officer
2. Beylar Huseynov, Chief Engineer
3. Rufat Jalilov, second engineer
4. Elshad Makhmudov, electrician
