Yarat! Contemporary Art Space! continues opening up the works by participants of Participate Public Art Festival.
A draft by young Russian artist and designer Natalya Pastuhova "Good Dog", organized within Participate Public Art Festival by Yarat! Contemporary Art Space! was presented behind the Abdulla Shaig State Puppet Theater at the boulevard in Baku.
Artist Natalya Pastuhova used the topic of different perceiving a 'dog' in the East and the West.
It is natural to eat dogs as chicken or beef in some eastern countries. A dog is a creature, endowed with an intellect, a soul and a character, that's individuality, for the Europeans.
The idea of every stray dog being a reflection of the environment and the city, in which it lives, is on the basis of the dogs' portraits.
A dog (wicked, kind, loyal, affectionate, abandoned) can tell us a lot about ourselves and get to think whether we have deprived of human nature. While thinking about her personal project, Natalya did some photo-study and even visited a shelter for homeless animals in the suburbs of Baku.
The day before the presentation, Pastuhova shared her creative experience and impressions with all concerned people at an open lecture, held in the YARAT! Office in Baku's ancient part - Inner city.
Residents and visitors of Baku will see 10 discoveries and 10 interactive works by authors from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, the US, Portugal and Holland.
