The trial of former General Levent Ersoz who is accused of organising the murder of Turkish ex-President Turgut Ozal, was rescheduled for December 9, Anadolu agency reported on Wednesday.

Ersoz had already been sentenced to 22 years and six months of confinement over the Ergenekon coup attempt case.

Investigation of the cause of the former Turkish president's death, who died in 1993 under mysterious circumstances, was resumed in connection with rumours that he was poisoned. The official version of his death is still considered to be heart failure. However, the wife of the deceased claims her husband was poisoned. Ozal's associates denied this version.

In mid-September 2012 the Prosecutor's Office of Turkey, took the necessary action for carrying out the exhumation of Ozal's body, despite the fact that his family was against it.

The report on the study of tissue samples taken for analysis showed that a poison was detected in them.

The report also states that in spite of the detection of poison in the remains of the former president, he did not die as a result of poisoning. The report did not specify the exact cause of Ozal's death.
