Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Elshad Iskandarov begins his official visit to Iran today.
The visit is made at the invitation of Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the State Committee said.
The visit envisages discussing the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iran in the religious sphere, removing the existing problems, as well as meetings with the Iranian new government and a number of senior officials.
Iskandarov plans to meet with Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, as well as chairman of the Organization of Islamic Culture and Cooperation Mohammad Bagir Humradshad and other officials.
Iskandarov plans to meet with Azerbaijani students getting religious education in Qum city and discuss a number of projects for the development of bilateral ties with the relevant state agencies of Iran.
It should be stressed that after the Iranian new government was formed, this is the first visit of the Azerbaijani official to this country.
